Hello, there!
You all know I love talking about bookkeeping. Helping people figure out what system works best for their brains and their businesses, providing resources to help when they get stuck, all the things. You KNOW I do!
And.
I also know that bookkeeping alone isn’t what people struggle with around business finances.
There’s also cash flow planning, budgeting (yup, technically they’re different, but that’s a topic for another day!), pricing, etc.
And it’s my opinion that THAT’s actually where so many business owners could use some really good resources and support.
To be sure: when your business is in the beginning stages, where there’s not much (or any!) revenue coming in, there’s really no need for planning and budgeting. (And that’s okay. Every. Single. Business. Ever. has gone through this stage.)
But when you’ve reached that next phase, when there’s revenue coming in (and possibly a lot of it!), there are questions like:
Am I using my resources effectively?
Am I overspending?
Can I afford to pay myself more / hire a VA / join a mastermind?
(Okay, now that I read them, those questions apply to “no/micro revenue” businesses as well, just in a slightly different way. But I digress…)
Answering those questions is where budgeting and planning come into play.
Answering those questions is what takes you from “I feel like I’m trying to run my business in a financial vacuum” to “Holy forking shirt-balls, I actually feel like I know what I’m doing and aren’t flying the by the seat of my proverbial financial pants anymore!”
(Wow, that was a mouthful. I stand by it!)
So yeah. That’s what we’re going to be diving into over the next few months. I’m excited (like, REALLY excited) to bring you some amazing, useful, BUT NOT OVERWHELMING resources to help with all of it.
To give you a sneak peek, I’m:
👉🏻 Overhauling the Feel Good Budget Planner to be even more useful, but without overcomplicating things. (The working name for the new product is the “Strategically Simple Financial Planner”. I’m stoked as all get out about it.)
👉🏻 Planning a “YNAB for Business” workshop later in the summer to introduce you to my absolute favorite biz finance tool.
👉🏻 Writing some really great blog posts so there’s lots of good foundational info available for people.
Fans self in order to calm down.
Bottom line: I’ve got you. It’s gonna be good. More info coming next week!
All the consensual money hugs,
P.S. If you’ve already purchased the soon-to-be old version of the Feel Good Budget Planner, (or purchase it between now and when the new product is released) I’m planning on giving you a coupon code for $9 off the overhauled “Simply Strategic” version. Woot!
P.P.S. I’m also thinking about doing a free “dive in” live workshop for people who purchase the overhauled planner in, say, the first two weeks after the release. It’ll be a mini-training on using the planner and time to, well, dive in and play around with it with me there to offer support, answer questions, etc. I’d love to gauge people’s interest level, so if that sounds like something up your alley, please reply to this email and let me know!
Lastly: as always, thanks to Tarzan Kay for the inspiration to put email newsletters on one's website like this!
